Low Vision Microscope

My low vision son is taking biology in school , where can we get a microscope that enlarges the image?

• There is a microscope that attaches to a computer (I've only seen one that hooks up to a PC). The image is then put on the screen, so you don't have to look through an eye piece. It works GREAT. It's made by Mattel It's called the "QX3+ Computer Microscope" Do a google search to find places that sell it.

After school programs

Does anybody have any suggestions for good after school programs for kids with disabilities in Berkeley? My daughter is 9 and is a wheelchair user. I need a program where she can go after school and stay until 5 or even 5 30. I’ve tried the program run by the city of Berkeley and it wasn’t quite what we were looking for. If there’s anything near Berkeley that people know about that would also work for us. Lucy

• Ala-Costa in Berkeley is a great after-school program for kids/teens with disabilities. However, they usually have a *long* waiting list. Call them to get on the wait list now.

• The Ala Costa Center at 1300 Rose St in Berkeley has an excellent after school program for kids with disabilities. Their daily program runs from when the kids arrive at the center after school till 5pm. http://www.alacostacenter.org/ It is funded through the Regional Center of the East Bay. If you have a Case Manager there, you can ask her about it. Or contact the Ala Costa folks directly to ask if you can visit the center.
